HELP! White column popping up on side of Mac book screen

There is a 2” white column that just popped up out of no where on the side of our MacBook screen. Has this happened to anyone else?

If it does not appear while the computer is booting and only shows up after logging in, it might be third party software glitching.

What year is the MacBook?

I get it when using Safari but it has a copy of my bookmarks in it, even though my bookmarks are already along there top of the screen. I wish i could disable it as it is annoying.
