Help!!!! (Windows Gone - Parallels)

so my friends turned on her computer this morning only to reveal vista, her pictures, music and school work is gone. but OS X is fine and CS3 and her other programs are fine... whats goin on here? any tips?

Am I correct in saying that Parallels creates a multi-gigabyte file as a virtual hard disk for all VMs? Look for this file.
