My roommate and me are moving to a bigger apartment and cant figure out how to set up our home theater.

i'll list what we have, and what we want to run, that way you can help me easier.

we have a mac pro, a linux desktop, 2 macbook pros, 2 apple tv's, an xbox 360, and a ps3 (probably, we havent gotten it yet)

with that we want to run 2 720p tvs and one 1080p tv

we have a lot of content in 720 and 1080p on hard drives already, but we never had the 1080p tv. that we still need to pick up next week. i know the apple tv's dont do 1080p, and i cant get the xbox 360 to stream 1080p video from the mac. most of the video is in mp4 or m4v, so the apple tv can play it, and i can play the 1080p videos through itunes.

i dont want to have to hook up a laptop to the tv to play a video, and i want it to be networked so all the apple tv's, laptops, and the big tv can play the media.

right now the server is the mac pro.

will the ps3 be able to stream the video easily, or should i just buy a mac mini to do this? or is there some other way I should do it taht would be cheaper but still be easy to use?

also, up until now our network has been wired foor the apple tv's. would an apple airport extreme allow me to stream 1080p with no problems? if so, how about 1080p to one tv and 720p to another one, or 720p to 2 tv's?

well, thanks a lot in advance

    I had a similar problem.

The key to home theatre setup for me has been how to find the right solution to store content centrally and access it seamlessly.

I have all my content in iTunes on a mac mini running as a server- photos/movies/music- all things digital.

I have an ATV on all my TVs and an airport express on all stereo speakers. Music and video is in all rooms.

I use my iPod touch as a media control centre for music and the ATV. All works well.

I also have a PS3 but I only use it for blueray and games. I have resisted the urge to use it for content. Too messy remembering where everything is. I have 10,000 songs, 400 films and about 1,000 episodes of tv programmes.

    That's a lot of stuff.
