    Hello All,

I recently tried to Partition my Disk for Windows. But whenever I try to do that it gives me an error message.

It tells me to Open up Disk Utility and fix it there. However that does no good.

Can anyone help me fix this?

I also have a 500gb External Hardrive. If theres anyway I could put windows on that please let me know.

    -Thanks

I'm not sure what you tried to fix in disk utility, I'm going to assume it was the permissions [if not, try that].

Anyway, if you really need Windows installed you always have the option of re-installing Leopard as well to give your system a nice refresh (never hurts! just time consuming.)

I'm not sure what it's trying to verify, but all I can really think of is permissions!!

Have you installed Windows before and removed the partition at a later date?

    Good luck!!

    Edit:

Have you tried anything other than 7 GB? Or did you just use that as a test to show the error message?

did you actually try repairing the disk or just permissions? to repair your disk you have to not be booted into it. boot into the first install DVD by holding C on startup, select your language, select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu and repair your disk from there.

I went to "Disk Utility" and Clicked on "Verify Disk Permissions" and got this:

After That I clicked on "Verify Disk" and got this:

I went and Re-Partitioned my Disk. It still wouldn't work. =(

Like I said before, Is there any way to do all of this on my 500gb External Hardrive?

repairing permissions is totally different and wont help you here. read my post above on how to repair your disk. you cant repair your hard drive while booted into it, thats why the "Repair Disk" button is greyed out.

also you cant Boot Camp on an External Drive. you can install Windows onto an external drive with a modified install but then it just doesnt work right with Macs, ive tried it! better to use the way that Apple has done and tested.
