I have a chance to buy a used iphone. However randomly during a conversation a buzzing noise can be heard by the person on the other end, even though it can't be heard on this end. Any advice?

I also wonder if there is a way to put my ATT sim card in that has the unlimited media package for a nonsmart phone and it work in the iphone. I can't afford to pay any more money to ATT than my $250 a month bills now. I have been paying for media package for years and haven't been able to use it since ATT bought Cingular out. My phone will randomly get a page or two to come up, but I had a 3G HTC fuze on the smart package and it would never load unless I traveled into 3g area. Lately I have had a new sim card and new media package for LG phone. Can get a little, but phone stinks. I want to try using iphone for a bit with my current nonsmart phone plan price to see if I like it before investing more.

I don't have answers to all of your questions but I did want to pass on one tip. My iPhone 3Gs does not appear to have a GSM SIM slot. I've had many GSM phones in the past and this is the first that apparently does not have one. I'm new to the iPhone world so I am not sure this applies to all iPhone. If you are considering buying an iPhone, you may want to check on this first.

The buzzing occurs no matter where the iPhone is used? If you have noticed in the past, GSM phones can sometimes cause speakers to buzz. For example, when data is received your car or desk speakers may make an audible buzz. When on a call the person on the other end can sometimes here this too. If you have not already, test the phone in several different areas. Ensure that you are not near other electronic equipment.

Good luck.

buzz

I know exactly what you mean, but this buzzing can not be heard on my end of the phone at all. Only the person I am calling hears it. It does it randomly. Sometimes a lot and then other times not so much. I am afraid to buy it from him if I can't figure out what it is. He has it jailbroken. I wondered after reading all the post on here if that could be affecting the calls and making it buzz to other party.
