This is my question for AT&T.

I open a new line and am assigned a new number. Few days later, I call in to AT&T and cancel an existing line already on the account. Is it possible to have that existing number ported to the new line that was opened a few days ago even though it has already been given a new number?

Just wondering...

Not after canceling the line. The number reverts to at&t. You'd need to swap the numbers before cancelling if that's possible

You'll also need to contend with the new high ETF (325) when cancelling a line

I doubt this is possible. In effect, what you would be doing is canceling the new line. It would be a way for you to be able to get the phone cheap, so I'm going to go with no.
