I've read how to change the image on an icon, but it doesn't seem to work the way I want it to. Here's my problem: I want to take an image I have–for example, this photo:
Window.png

And use that on a folder icon. The thing is, this doesn't work. The smaller image in the upper left corner is the small "Preview" image, thus when I copy and paste, that icon is all i see.

Get info on the file you want to put the new icon on as usual.
Open the picture in preview > click on the picture > command c to copy > command v to paste onto the file icon on the top of the get info window. Done.

Thanks! This seems the best way for me to do it.
