hello im quite new to mac's and i'm having problems while trying to burn a dvd using idvd,
i have used imovie to import clips i had directly from my camcorder that part i think is fine, however it is saving clips in the separate days, which they are as the clips are only about 30 seconds long
next i can create a project on idvd i can add the files and correctly add music to start menu etc and all is well HOWEVER when i burnt the dvd and go to play it in a dvd player it works fine but wont play continually, it plays each short (20 second) clip and revers back to root menu
is there a setting i'm not aware off that lets you do this or do i need proper dvd editing software
any help would be much appreciated
thank you

Thanks for trying to help and the link but I've watched all iMovie and all iDVD tutorials but it dose not help, I'm suprised no one else has had this issue or knows how to overcome it

If you add separate movies to iDVD, it will treat them as separate movies for playback purposes: i.e. when the movie finishes, it goes back to the menu.

To get them to play continuously, you need to have them in an iMovie timeline one after the other and place THAT into iDVD as a single file.

Thanks martin I had a fealing that was something to do with the problem so I had a play yesturday, the clips are from a camcorder so iMovie has saved them in "event movies" when I open the folder it as 12 sub folders each labled as the different days as they where filmed,
however when I open I movie again I can't drag these .mov files to I movie nothing hapens. Even if I open them seperate in I movie so I have them how I originally had them how do u seam them together if I click on them or hover mouse courser on the clips to try and drag them they just play. I'm confused

Hi there, I had the same problem too, I created Sub menus (which I guess were chapters) and one can't access to the 2nd level... I am not using movies, but multiple slideshows nestled within the chapters with photos. It's not intuitive to a PC end user if I do pass it on... I can access it through DVD player on my MAC but the probabability of another user using a different Media Play would be a pain... or they may think there is nothing within in.

I am trying to create an 'interactive' portfolio of images with their sub categories.

Please helP!! TQQ

Watched all the Tutorials and it seems all too simple, and flawless, until the content is displayed (in this case NOT) :(

Settings in iMovie Import menu are important!

Hi iMovie/iDVD users,

When you import video clips in iMovie, they go to the Event Library. Each clip lasts as long as the camcorder's start/stop record button was pressed and one "Event" contains clips taken in one day IF THIS OPTION IS SELECTED from import menu! i.e. if the box "Split days into new Events" is checked out. If it is not checked out, all the clips will be imported in one Event!

Then, from those "Events", you should create your iMovie Project (please read the tutorials how to do that). Once the project is created, go to Share -->iDVD.

After the iMovie project is transferred to iDVD, iDVD will pop up automatically and your project is already created with all chapters you have put in your iMovie project. Just choose the theme add all the bells and whistles to your new iDVD project and burn it. That's all!

When you put the DVD in DVD player it will run continuously or chapter by chapter, depending on your choice.

Have fun,
Dobrin
