Hello folks!
Been coming to this great site for a while, lots of great info...
My son gave me his IPad I as a gift, and I have been loving it. As this is my first apple device, I am not used to not having to have malware or virus programs. For about the last week, this thing has been going bonkers... First it was just slow safari page loading, then it progressed to very inaccurate keyboard and very slow app loading, and now, every dang time I plug in my earbuds it starts playing music.. Double click the home button and it shows no apps running. So I have to start iPod app, pause music, then double tap home button and shut iPod down. That works, until I unplug and replug the earbuds back in..
I have seen a lot of posts from back in 2009 where this was happening on iPhones, Macs, and iPods, but that is a long time ago...
Shutting down the iPad and rebooting it does not help.

Any suggestions as how to fix this? If this was a PC, I would guarantee malware or virus, with Apple, I am lost.

Thanks in advance!

Just plug it in to the computer that you sync to and update the software in iTunes, firstly.

If that doesn't help, and if all of your data is managed by iTunes, you need to restore the iPad (erase everything on it and reinstall the software) and then sync your iTunes stuff back onto it.

All of the guides can be found on Apple.com.

Hey, thanks for the reply. But can you or someone state what or why this is happening? I sure hope that every time the iPad gets glitchy, I don't have to wipe it clean and re-install everything.
The music thing is only a small part of the problem. VERY laggy keyboard, Netflix movies act weird, etc.... If it were a PC, I would guarantee it had malware on it..
Anyway, thanks for the reply.

What iOS version is it running? Did you restore it as a new device via iTunes when you got it from your son? Is there a Cydia icon on it ( ie is it jailbroken?)
