I have been using Macs for years, but I haven't gotten into particulars. Anyways, I wanted to know if I delete the contents of the Downloads folder, will it adversely affect the files that are actually stored in there. Meaning, will it delete them from other areas of my computer. I have random powerpoints, pictures, word documents, music, etc. in the downloads folder. It's reaching almost a 1000 files!! I noticed that the music is in my iTunes music folder and some of the documents are stored in the documents folder. I need assistance!

haha wow 1000+ files! talk about file management ;)

for the pdfs/ppts/docs etc - they are directly stored there. if you delete them from there they are gone for good. this will be the same for everything else, unless for iTunes music (.mp3/m4a etc) which are likely to ALSO have been copied directly into your username/Music folder.

Hi, quick noob question, when you download something from safari do you have the "open" option like on IE so you can just delete your cache afterwards for unwanted files? (new mbp coming on wednesday that's why I ask:) )
