I have a new mac pro and never had the following problem before. When I try to download certain files (i.e windows media player) they download as an excel file. Can someone please tell me what I need to do for this to stop happening?

Thank you.

It sounds like your file associations are mixed up. Try resetting it by bringing up the properties for one of the affected file types on your Mac, and select 'Open With'. You can then select the appropriate program to open that file type with. I'm not sure if this is exactly what you wanted to do, but I can only try to help...

thanks for the quick replies. it downloads as a .bin file. You're right I think my file associations are messed up, not sure how that happened. What is the correct application to associate them with? would it be stuff it?

thank you

just right click the link and choose save link as
wmp *.bin is a compressed file that need to be uncompressed

thanks.hmmmm usually I can click download and it downloads and opens properly. I never had to right click. When I right click it attempts to open an old version of toast to open the file. something is out of wack...

thanks. I reinstalled my stuff it. I think when I got my new computer I never installed it again. maybe thats why I never had to think about what to do when dl'ing files.. will see how that goes.. appreciate the help.
