Got a new 27 iMac the other day and I'm trying to get my drives all set up. I have two external drives that I previously used on my PC and they are formatted in NTFS. One has my photo library on it, and the other has my video library. I plugged them both into the new iMac and they were instantly readable. Then I installed the latest version of Paragon NTFS to get write capability to both drives. Seems to be working fine except for one anomaly: I downloaded a group of photos from Google Photos on the web, and it put them in a ZIP file to download. Once I downloaded the file to my external hard drive, I tried to unzip it. The archiver utility opened and it looked like everything worked fine. But neither the folder nor the files show up in Finder. The zip file is there, but the archiver is supposed to create a folder and put the files in it. Nope, nothing. I tried it several times, and each time it looked like it worked, but it did not. So I ejected the external drive and plugged it back into my PC. Sure enough, not only is the original zip file there, but so is the new folder with the photos inside. In fact, there were multiples of these folders with files inside since I ran the archiver multiple times in OSX. So I plugged it back into my Mac and only the zip file is showing up, no other folders or files. I confirmed that the drive is writable in OSX by creating a folder myself in Finder and that worked fine. And I can copy files from my internal Mac drive to the external drive, so I'm not having a write issue. It's just that the unzipped folder and files don't show up in OSX for some reason. So I copied the ZIP file to my internal drive and unzipped it there. Sure enough, the new folder and files appear right behind the icon for the zip file and I can open it up and see my photos. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!
