Simply put, I have a late model MDD with 2GB of ram, Dual 1.25GHz processors, and a GeForce 4 MX 440 right now and I want to replace it with something meatier like an HD 4650 AGP I found on ebay for $100. I tried to find information regarding flashing one of these AGO cards for it to cooperate with the Mac’s firmware, I found PCIe ones for Mac Pros but not this type. And a video I saw of someone doing it with a powerful GeForce card thats close to an HD 4650 is over $300 (7800 GS?). And a mac compatible GeForce 4 4600 Ti is $500! So what can I do? I can’t find any information to change the hexes on the card’s firmware like I saw to trick the firmware and MacOS into using it for these models of Mac and card - or ROMs to flash it with either - what do I do?

MDD has AGP x4 slot, and for Powermac ( OpenFirmware+OSX ) are the fastest one ( if I am correct, of course ):
-GeForce 7800 GT / GS - have no details about it, but win versions can be flashed
-Radeon X850XT - fastest with linux support, but need soldering modification ( swap 64 KB ROM to 128 KB one)
-Radeon X800XT - linux support, can be flashed with reduced ROM, but is expensive
-FireGL X3 - cheap, can be flashed, with linux 3D support

and than also Radeon 9800, - / PRO / XT, 9700 -/PRO, 9600 XT/PRO - all can be flashed and works with linux
