So I want to format my MBP, I've formatted pc's before but not macs. I have a disk image of leopard taken from my leopard cd on my external hard drive because I don't have my cd with me. How can I format my macbook pro hard drive while using the copy of leopard on my external hard drive? Maybe a demi-god could help me out here.

You first need that image to not be an image, you need an actually bootable volume. You then need to boot off of that disc or disk (using the option key on startup). Then use disc utility to reformat the drive.
