I have been having some problems with the Forum Search function. Obviously, it's my fault and I need some help in figuring out how to use the function properly.

On several occasions, I have attempted to employee the Forum Search function and have been unsuccessful. My most recent misadventure was when I wanted to re-read some threads regarding whether I should shut down my computer overnight, or just sleep it. I entered “shut down or sleep overnight”. The information that was provided was useless.

Clearly, I must be doing something wrong. Everyone else seems to be able to get the search function to work, except me! (No great surprise there )

I would appreciate any help you can provide.

Thanks in advance… :D

I've recently found that using Google and searching keywords and adding in site:macrumors.com is much much better than the search feature on here

Personally I use Google. Just enter "site:forums.macrumors.com" before the search word and it finds results from MR. Google also allows you to easily set the timeframe for results so you don't have to look at threads from 2005.

Wow! You guys are fast! :)

Thank you so much for the advice. As usual, I know I can count on you all for help.

I'm going to try out your advice now.

Thanks again :D

Edit: Just tried it - works GREAT. Thanks again.

Or just use the Google custom search that's under the search tab in the forums.
