I'm anticipating buying a Rosewill R2-JBOD and putting a 3.0 TB Western Digital Caviar Green 3.5in hard drive in it to use as an external storage location, but I've heard that such hard drive enclosures only support hard drives in capacities up to 2.0 Terabytes.
Is this the case with these new 3TB hard drives coming out? Or were these specs just written when these higher capacity drives weren't available yet so they just said they could handle hard drives "up" to that big? If someone with more knowledge on this subject than myself could please put this particular question to rest (preferably falling back on some official sources for their information) that would be immensely appreciated. There's nothing worse than being stuck with a wonderful piece of computer hardware made useless by another piece of hardware's limitations.

    Thank you,

    Grant

    Thanks,
but I've decided I better break down and buy a DROBO, a machine that I doubt needs any explanation. The model I anticipate buying supports up to 4 separate drives, and with a firmware update to enable compatibility with the 3.0 TB drive I'm using I'll be able to store a whopping 12 terabytes on a single machine if I so wish.
It might take me some time, but with what I'm using it for I'm sure I will reach it eventually.

    Regards,

    Grant
