That worked! Well, so far. I'm at the "Restoring" part right now, so I'm waiting to see what happens. I just needed to format it, apparently!

I hate to quibble too much, especially since someone was able to give me the information so easily, but nowhere did I see that I needed to format the hard drive before restoring it. Or if it's there, it's not a "straightforward" instruction. I guess I needed to have a bit more knowledge with all of it, but I am definitely of a mind that instructions need to be for the most basic of users.

Maybe that's just me. Either way, I'll update with what I think of the new hard drive once my restore is done. Thank you, appleraj!

Computers have been dumbed down enough in my opinion. There are straight forward instructions on OWC. I am not sure how much simpler you want it to be.

How is having clear instructions of the aspects of instruction the dumbing down of computers? And how is making something user-friendly dumbing things down? I mean, give me a break. This kind of attitude is exactly why people don't go to forums asking for help. I read through the instructions and, no they are not straight forward. Because if they were straight forward, I would not have needed to ask for help. I am not a total novice to technology, and it's insulting to have people who think that just because they do not need the instructions, the instructions should not be there at all. There are many times when I do not need to have detailed instructions, but as a consumer I expect them to be there when I do need to reference them, no matter what the product is.

Anyway, as an update to my original post, the new SSD is great, it works very well, is fast, and, of course, has enough space for what I need. I will say that the battery life is being eaten away a lot faster than before, but I had heard that this could happen, so I am not upset - I knew what I was getting into. If anyone wants me to do tests or anything, I'm happy to do so, just let me know what I need to do.

In conclusion: the OWC SSD has done exactly what I ordered it for, I have been pleased with the product.

FWIW, it states in the install video on their website that the drive needs to be formatted.

Hi again... I know it says that you need to format the drive, but all it says is that you have to use Disk Utility to format the drive. If someone (like me) has never used Disk Utility before, how would they know what to do? I understand assumed knowledge and trial and error (believe me, I love trial and error), but this was not innate. Anyway, thanks to all who responded!

Nice acquisition. Sorry for the trolls you've encountered on this thread. How are you liking the upgrade?

Just curious, how long does it run on on one charge now/before (roughly)?

I followed all the steps and changed the SSD drive for OWC. Once I did, I launched the Disk Utility to restore from Disk #2 as Source to OWC Aura. An error appears, which says : "error (32)... (Broken pipe). What does that mean? What can I do?

In its explanation concerning restoring data of your MacBook, OWC forgets a few steps.

First, you have to create a partition on the new OWC SSD, and restore to this partition...
