Hey all! I could use a bit of help regarding the iTunes 7 installation. Each time I attempt to install I get an error message stating that "This installation cannot directly upgrade from the version of iPod software found on this computer. Please uninstall the iPod software and try again."

I have searched this error message both on Apple Support and a general Google search and ended up empty handed. Any suggestions? I have already tried uninstalling all old versions of iTunes and no success.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Looks like Apple hasn't gotten to posting it because the new iTunes automatically updates it anyways. Doesn't help if you can't install it. :p

And you do have a 5G right?

Actually, I dont currently have a working iPod :(. Mine died. So I dont think that's the issue. I tried restarting and then installing...still nothing. I apologize for the issues!

Ok, I fixed the problem. I'll explain it here in case others have the problem.

I used Windows Installer Clean Up - go here and scroll down to download. I then went in and removed all instances of the iPod Updater. This immediatly remedied the problem. Hope this helps to anyone with the same problem! Thanks winterdude for the help!
