Hi everyone. I am new to all this, so please forgive my lack of knowledge. I upgraded to the new iPhone 4S. I still have my iPhone 4. Every summer I go to Europe and would like to use the my old iPhone 4 there with a sim card. It is set with AT&T. Can this be done? I can buy a sim card there for $14. Last time I was there my phone bill was over $500. What can I do to make my old phone work in Europe. It is set up with 5.0.1.... thanks

Your phone seen to be locked to AT&T network, and not it won't work anywhere else unless you unlocked it. You said that it is on 5.0.1 which means that you upgraded the baseband (radio firmware) to the most recent version and there is currently no available tool to unlock that baseband as of yet. In other words you are out of luck at this time.

Best option is to look for someone that had a ip4 with old firmware (not everyone keeps up with updates) and ask them to trade up phones (maybe you even add some money in top of that), that way you can get a phone with an older baseband that could be unlock and you can unlock (saving money when you go overseas).
