Alright my Mom told me her Macbook wasn't starting, so i went down saw it was on just the screen was on its lowest brightness level. So i tried raising the brightness with the dedicated buttons, then i went into System Preferences and tried to do something in there (it was very hard to see everything).

So then i restarted it, nothing. Restarted it a couple more times, nothing. Logged out and logged back in, nothing. Right now its sitting on my Moms desk, off.

Is there any solution to this problem aside from going to the Apple store and having them have a look at it (its under warranty)

BTW it's a Intel Core Duo White Macbook.

When you adjust the brightness with the keys, can you see on teh screen if the little indicator shows up? If you can, then I think that the backlight is shot, and as such you should take it to the apple store. It will be free to get it fixed. If you are willing to pay $99 you can get 1 year of immediate special service. So, you pay that, and you make sure that you get rush processing essentially.
