This is my first time posting - hope this is in the right place.

I just set up my Mail application on my MacBook Pro. It is set up with my email account from my university email (mail.universityname.edu). I'm wondering if I can set it up so that when I delete emails using the Mail application, they also delete from the original source.

Right now, I have to delete messages from my webmail, then delete them again off Mail (or vice versa).

Thanks!

If you set it up with IMAP and configure it to delete messages on the server when deleted in Mail, it should keep everything in sync.

An Exchange setup will do the same.

I'm assuming your school hosts their own email since they use mail.theirname.edu - if there isn't documentation on their site on how to set this up, contact their IT/helpdesk/whatever they call their student help.

You probably have it setup with POP if they're not syncing.

Thank you so much! I deleted that account and re-created it as an IMAP and it's working just fine now.
