Help with Matlab and avi files

I've have to use matlab to read in avi files in indeo5 codec, but it seems when matlab runs under mac/Unix it can't read in any avi that's compressed. Do any of you know of anyway I can decompress my avi files?

Huh! Your Indeo 5 .avi files should work in the Classic version of QuickTime.
