Switching from Pixel 5 to 13 Pro. After transferring text messages and fully setting up the phone, the group conversations I transferred over show all correct participants but has also added me (my phone number) as an additional participant so now my sent messages shows up as a reply in the group chat that only I can see. I have a super long history and I don't want to have to create a new group. For now, I put my SIM back in the Pixel so as not not to disrupt the continuity for myself as it is a very active group.

Is there a way to fix the way it imports? I've done it 5 times now with various combinations of having the SIM card in/out, turning on/off RCS on the Pixel, but it keeps adding my own phone number as an additional participant in only the group messages. One-on-one messages are unaffected and worked seamlessly.

Do you have MMS enabled in your messages settings? Ultimately, if you did not use a third party app for messaging I believe you are going to have to start a new group with yourself added fresh. There is no interoperability between iMessage and RCS (its treated as SMS or MMS) so disabling it on your pixel won't have an effect on your iPhone.

I might, not sure to be honest. It's just kind of frustrating that the transfer made me as one of the participants.

I was hoping (when I was doing it with/without the SIM card inserted in the iPhone during transfer/setup) that it would at least intelligently detect that the phone number for the SIM card was being added as a participant in the conversations and remove it as it wouldn't make sense for it to be.
