My macbook died this summer so I bought a Mini off of a famous auction site that supposedly had the 'folder icon' issue or cursor issue when booting. Now that I received it is more like the blank screen/no audio/no video issue. Wondering if anyone has had this issue or any advice. I have tried resetting nvram, Option -C, Option D, holding shift while booting, etc... I get no sound and no monitor(tried 3 diff with hdmi & dvi).

If i boot with original os x disk or snow leopard eventually the disk gets ejected. Also, when booting the light comes on(next to superdrive) then does off for a second and comes back on. Not sure if it is normal for Mini's or if it is crashing and then restarting. The fan is running. I have also tried removing one of the ram sticks and switching them and no luck there either. No matter what I get no signal to the screen. If this was windows I would think a hardware or disk issue and would try installing a new disk. Should I try that here? TIA

give up and go to apple store

ejeting the disk might mean the cd rom drive is bad

holding down the D key doesn't work on mid 2010s you need the original disks

i tried to to option d / command d on my mid 2010 today, i was testing some ram i found, and found out that internet hard ware test no longer works! and it gave me an error saying this version of apple hardware test does not work on this machine!

Thanks. Havent tried a USB key yet...may try that today. I did replace the hard drive last night and no go. Thinking mainboard or vid on mainboard maybe. Powers up, fan spins, cd spins just no signal at all to the monitor.
