I'm having trouble getting a USB Mouse to work with my MBP. Strangely, I see the device in System Profiler as USB OPTICAL MOUSE, however when plugged in, it lights up, though I cannot move the cursor or click with it. My trackpad works fine.

The mouse is generic, and was purchased on eBay.

In addition, I know the issue is software- and not hardware-related because the mouse works fine in both W7 Bootcamp and in choosing a boot device on the startup menu (after I press Option during boot).

On my previous MacBook, also running SL, the mouse worked fine, so I don't think it could be a driver issue.

At home, my Magic Mouse works perfectly over Bluetooth, and I use an app called BetterTouchTool to add functionality to that and my trackpad. I tried quitting that program but the problem seemed to continue.

Any help on getting this mouse to work would be great. Thanks in advance!

Check your universal preferences and see if "mouse keys" is enabled under mouse settings. One possible problem, just un-check the box.

Thanks for the response, although it seems that Mouse Keys is already off.
