Help with multitouchpad...

Ok.. you know when you tap the touchpad it's suppose to "click" mine doesn't..
is that just not a feature of mbp or what..
like i move the cursor over anything clickable I tap the touchpad.. but it doesnt open it.. i have to click pressing the clicking button, like i can't tap the touchpad.
