i just bought a used iMac G5 17" which came with no Hard drive and no Super drive, i just installed a new hard drive (no superdrive yet) and id like to make a carbon copy from my other computer, i connected a mac keyboard to the iMac to make it work as a Firewire HD but after i pressed the "T" key from booting... turns off again.... any ideas?
    Thanks

It's really hard to give good advice without some more information, but it sounds like a bad power supply to me. Hard to tell without opening up the PSU, and unless you know what you're doing, opening the power supply is a great way to give yourself a really nasty shock (although it's a great way to see what the new ER is like at your local hospital if they've renovated lately and you want to check out the changes).

I hesitate to ask, buy how much money did you pay for this machine?

One thing you can do is open up the back of the machine and then plug it in and check the LED lights. There is a kb article from Apple on this procedure:

    Hope that helps.
