Help with new Pro purchase

    I'm looking at a used old style pro

    Apple Mac Pro

    Upgraded to...
    EIGHT CORE 2.8GHz - 32GB RAM
    32GB Memory + 1TB Storage
    ATI 2600 XT Graphics

    With a Fresh Install of...
    Mac OS X El Capitan

    Trying to see how much of should consider

    Unless it's a 5,1 2010 or 2012 model I just would invest ANY money in it.
    Perhaps a 2009, as you can flash it to be a 5,1, but nothing older.
    There's just no point in putting money into truly obsolete hardware IMO.

    Unless, like myself you're a hobbiest who enjoys the challenge of tinkering and getting these older machines to do things that Apple says they can't.
    MacPro1,1 running OSX El-Capitan like a champ
    MacPro3,1 running macOs Sierra 10.12.6 and looking forward to the release of Hi-Sierra.
