Hey so I just got a MacBook in September and I want to keep it fast, clean, and working smooth for the years to come.

1) I want to do all the things possible regularly (maybe once every 2 or 3 weeks, maybe more often) that will help optimize the performance, speed, and everything else on my MBP and keep it clean and working smooth... If I download Onyx, I don't know what "processes" to do and something might happen or get deleted if I check off something for Onyx to do. So could you tell me specifically what to do to just make my MBP faster, cleaner and all that like I said before.

2) Any other programs (free please) (or Utilities pre-installed on my MBP) that I can use to speed up, clean, and make my MBP faster? And what exactly do I do once I download the program (what to check off, etc.) to speed up, clean, and make my MBP faster?

Thanks! And I'm hoping to get very helpful answers

It will do that all on its own. I have never had to do any sort of preventive maintenance in 6 years with Mac OS X. The utilities included with your Mac, as well as most third-party utilities, are intended to fix problems after they appear.

You don't really have to do anything usually. Unless your computer gets really old and your trying to run newer OSes, software, etc. It doesn't just start bogging itself down like Windows does..
