help with raid

i have two owc enclosures that hold two drives each. i striped each enclosure and then mirrored the two enclosures, all with disk utility. recently, one of the drives went out, so i replaced it. i connected the enclosure with the new drive and striped the two. i then disconnected it and reconnected it, expecting the original raid to notice it and repair the raid, but no such luck, still degraded.

any ideas?

I don't think a RAID 10 rebuilds automatically like that. I think you have to reapply the mirroring or something. I'm not 100% tho as I never had an HDD go out under Mac OS X yet.
