I have a Yamaha PSR 295 which I like to use as my MIDI controller. It works perfectly with Garage Band, but I'm having trouble using it with Reason.

Reason does recognize it, as when I go to advanced midi options, it shows my yamaha psr 295, but when I select the subtractor analog synthesizer, I can never hear the actual piano.

I'm tryin to figure out if I've made a simple mistake in regards to input or something. I'm connected to my macbook through a USB from the yamaha.

I have made sure that yamaha psr 295 is selected under "BUS A" and whatnot.

I'm hoping the yamaha can be used with Reason through USB, and that I have just made a simple mistake.

any help would be appreciated!

Have you made sure not to just highlight the subtractor in the sequencer window but also enabled it to recieve midi? You can tell by the little piano symbol that should should show on the left of the name and the rec enable button. That is one mistake i've done countless times myself.

Yeah, the piano seems to be lit up, so it looks like it is enabled.

the other thing is, you know how they have the "autoplay" feature when you are trying to select a patch? well the ones that end in ".zyp" don't seem to give me any sound at all.

When I play the piano, it isn't even giving any type of a signal to show that any sound is being made. Yet, it seems to recognize my yamaha psr 295 in the advanced midi options under preferences.

I'm still lost on what I could be doing wrong.

Hmmm

Need reason help?
