From reading around on the forums it looks like I'm basically screwed in trying to recover files deleted with rm through terminal.

In hopes that my situation is a little different I'm posting here.

I was using rm *.THM to delete the secondary files created by my Canon 5D in video mode. I was accessing the SD card when my finger slipped and I wrote

rm *>THM

From what looks like everything was overwritten by THM. From the advice of a forum thread. I've stopped using the computer and ordered a recovery software. When it gets here I'll try my luck with that.

Can anybody offer any help with this aside from 'You're screwed' cause I already feel that way. :)

Anyways, thanks a ton either way
Alec

From my experience, yes you need a software recovery tool and don't use your SD card because in reality any deleted files will not be removed immediately until a new file is created and use by the OS.
