I've been using the Stickies that come with OS X (not the Dashboard version) to leave simple reminders on my desktop. I have two problems with it though:
1) The Stickies program has to remain in the dock as an application for Stickies to work
2) Stickies are in the list of applications when I use ALT + TAB.

Basically, I guess I'm looking for another program similiar to Stickies that will let me keep reminders on my desktop but will remain hidden all the time and that won't be in the dock or the ALT + TAB menu.

I know that Konfobulator has something like this that goes along with iCal but I don't want to use Konfobulator.

Your best bet is the dashboard stickies, they're always in your dock by default.

Rich.

I know but I want something that will remain on the desktop always and that runs in the background so it's not like another application. maybe like from the menu bar? but I don't check my dashboard too often so I don't know if it's a good idea.

I want something similiar to this which is a part of konfobulator:

Check out Sidenote.

I pimped this app yesterday but it sounds like just what you are looking for :)

Edit: Or you could use this hint to put Dashboard stickies permanently on the desktop.

Basically this is what I'm looking for:
1) Something similiar to what I posted above that can work with iCal but doesn't require iCal to be open. Or a program similair to Stickies
2) something that is hidden. Like it isn't really an app so I won't see it in my dock or when I use ALT +TAB
3) Something that will remain on the desktop.
4) Something that will open automatically. so if I restart my computer it will be there so I can be aware of the reminders/events coming up.

Thanks.
