Help with surround sound headphones

OK. So i recently ordered a pair of turtle beach z6a headphones, which are 5.1 surround sound. i am planning to connect them to my macbook pro retina display mid 2012. My primary question is whether or not I will need to buy extra cables/converters/sound cards and if so, which ones and why. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

yep.

either 5.1 digital out to analog 5.1 (receiver) which will feed your headphones then, or an external audio interface able to produce 6 analog outputs.
