Pretty much every time I've downloaded a theme and went into ssh, dropped it in there and then activated it in Winterboard, it comes up looking wrong. Either the background picture isn't there (small blue question mark), times/dates are overlapping, it's off-center.. etc. If I edit the lockbackground.html files the way some sites say to, I overwrite it in ssh and then the theme looks completely wrong again.

One LS that has worked is Frost LS which I downloaded straight from Cydia.. but I have no idea how to customize it at all. I want to move the overlay from the middle to the top and change the lockscreen photo to something from my camera roll. I've spent hours searching for tips and help but nothing seems to be working.

ANY help would be seriously appreciated. Anyone who can point me in the direction of a detailed tutorial for someone who isn't that familiar with all this stuff or just some assistance in general. It's extremely frustrating. :/

everytheme is a little different from the next, some backgrounds are coded in the html code and you need to tinker with the coding some you can just delete the lockbackgound or wallpaper png files and the ones you pick from camera roll will work, when you get the blue question mark that means its coded to the html and its giving you an error becasue the file is missing from the location it was coded to fetch it from

Basically, what I'd ideally want to do is be able to do things like change my icons, change some fonts, etc.

I'm able to run openssh, cyberduck, etc and get files between the phone and computer I'm just struggling with being able to do the other stuff.

i.e... rather than download an entire theme from Cydia, is there a way to search for different icons and manually replace them via ssh? Same with fonts.

a good tutorial for a starter is

http://www.hackthatphone.com/index_free.html

once you learn how a theme works you will be able to do more customizing

I have a general idea of how to do it from the tutorials but where can I get the actual icons? I found a ton of retina icon replacements for apps from the app store but what if I want to replace my mail icon or messages icon, etc?

macthemes in the fourm section click iOS releases and you will see many good themes, icons, status bar icons, sbsettings themes etc

Saw some good stuff there. I actually wound up just using the Suave HD theme and replacing the background and it looks good.

Trying to figure out how to change the font on my lockscreen now. The theme looks good but the font looks boring as hell.

Use Bytafont, available through Cydia.

I have Bytafont but I'm having trouble getting a font I want to show up in there. What I'm trying to do is get Neutraface 2 in there. I tried to download the font on my Mac, ssh in and drop the folder into /var/mobile/library/MyFonts but it's not coming up in Bytafont. I got Geo Sans Light in there somehow but Neutraface 2 won't come up. Any idea why?

Also, is it possible to have it where I change the font for the lockscreen and for my icons/status bar but have a different font for SMS or just leave the default? The lockscreen I have right now is supposed to have Geo Sans Light as the font but I don't know how to use it for the Lockscreen only.. I can go into system and change it but then everything is in that font which I don't want. But my LS with default font looks ****** so I have to get the Geo Sans font there without having it everywhere else.

EDIT... I figured out what I was doing wrong and got Neutraface to show up in Bytafont so now my question is whether it is possible to just use the font for my lockscreen and maybe for my icons/status bar but not everything else (SMS, etc). Or does it have to be one way or the other?
