Trying to figure out how to delete duplicates of same thing on my toolbar. I am indeed new to Mac. Would appreciate any help.

If you mean the Dock (generally at the bottom of the screen), just drag the icons you don't want off – they'll disappear in a little puff of smoke.

My apologies, I should have been more specific. I meant in the browser. When I open it, it has yahoo.com/ yahoo/ apple/ yahoo!/ etc.. how can I get rid of these duplicates? thanks again,

Yes you should.

Which browser?

I assume Safari, if so right click on them and select Delete. That "toolbar" is called the "Bookmark Bar", have a look at Menu Bar > View.
