Hello,

So I'm finally going to take the plunge and get the black iP4. However, I wanted to do so without renewing my family's contract. My grandma is actually on our family plan, and could care less about her upgrade that she has had for a year now.

My question is...how can I use her upgrade for myself, without messing up her number or anything? Can I simply go to Apple.com, put in her phone number and then apple ships me the unactivated phone and I can then just activate it myself for my number?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

My experience

I did that very thing for my IPhone 4. I upgraded using my daughter's contract upgrade at an AT&T store with no issues. Just explain to them that's what you want to do and usually they will comply. I THINK that since the IPhone uses a microsim now you can't just have it shipped home and put your sim card in it to activate it. Go to an AT&T store and I think they will take care of you. They did for me.

Awesome, I appreciate your response.
