I don't know what to do!

I recently installed IOS5 on my Ipad1 and ever since the thing has been playing up.

The main faults are:-

1) Ipad is generally very sluggish
2) Safari randomly closes mid surf for no apparent reason (happens every 5 minutes)
3) Browsing graphically rich web pages has gone from the smooth and slick experience I had on 4.3 to a jerky horrible mess
4) Battery is barely lasting 2 days whereas previously I used to get a week out of it.

I am not very well versed in the intricacies of Apple stuff and my device is out of warranty and thus I am not keen on spending money on repairs. Is there anything I can do myself to sort this. I should mention again that all these problems have only arisen since the IOS 5 thing.

Any comments would be very welcome

I would first try a restore, see if that effects or improves anything.

Not sure if that would help the battery issue.
