My Powerbook froze, so I rebooted and now it fails to boot into OS X or at all for that matter. I hear the chime and see a gray screen and it just sits. Help! I have had so many problems with this powerbook, it boggles my mind. The hard drive has been replaced, the logic board has been replaced... I just dont understand. I thought macs were supposed to be reliable/not crash! I can't boot into single user mode or target disk mode. I just don't get it. I won't have access to Install discs until Friday, and even then I don't think it would even boot from a CD. Any ideas? Please? I'm desparate and frustrated and out of warranty. Thanks in advance.

When your PB fails to start up, does it beep at you (apart from the startup chime)?

"Beep codes", if available, can be used to diagnose a Mac that won't boot. For example, I once had a similar problem with my iBook... and I was getting two beeps. A search on the Apple website translated this as meaning failed memory. I replaced the RAM and it worked fine.

Good luck

No beeps, other than the startup chime. And no luck with resetting the PMU or PRAM. Any other ideas?
