iPod touch Helpppp Asap Ipod Freaking Out

Ok so i go into installer and update customize..after that my ipod starts freaking out and freezing so i hold power and home..and it turns off.. Then it will just sit on my summerboard and after like 10 seconds the loading bars will come up and it will flash the apple logo. then go back to my summerboard. I cant open any programs?? What do i do??????????? HELP
If i need to restore it how do i do this?

If you need to restore:
1. Plug your iPod into your computer and start iTunes
2. Press and hold the sleep and home button.
3. The second the Apple logo comes up, let go of the sleep button but keep holding the home button.
4. The logo should change after a few seconds.
5. Use iTunes to restore.

same thing is happening to me it goes to the springboard then the loading circle pops up then the circle freezes and stops spining then the apple logo comes up and it repeats the process...itunes wont recognize my ipod when connected
