I actually just went and saw Helvetica last night with the other designers. Pretty interesting film for designers, some of the people interviewed loved it, others hate it.

Honestly, there are far worse fonts in the world to hate than Helvetica. Most of them promulgated by releases of Windows.

Helvetica is quite, quite fantastic. One of my favourites.

Helvetica is like a classy middle aged whore:

She might not look good in all positions.

She might not dress all trendy like those younger tarts (Myriad and Meta, I'm looking at you), but she's got experience on her side.

She's been used by a lot of people that just didn't know what they were doing.

But for an experienced designer, those familiar with every curve and nuance...it's the best money you've ever spent and has given you some of the best nights of your life.

So here's to you, sweet Helvetica...I'll be leaving another $100 on your bedside table tonight.
