I've been waiting for the 15" one for long time now.

Apparently the 15" model was sent in for manufacturing, but they haven't updated the blog in awhile.

A couple of updates:

I returned my Henge Dock. I just didn't like it's problem with the cabling. It was a first-generation effort, to call it as I see it. Henge Docks was easy and gracious regarding the return process.

Also, today, I got an email from Henge Docks announcing their second-generation docks. There are touted improvements, obviously. Specifically, the MiniDisplayPort-to-DVI adapter issue that I went into detail about has been addressed with Henge Docks own $25 adapter. Hmmm. Well. I should think that everybody ought to add this $25 onto the price of the dock in order to get the real price. (If I get around to it, I might post a picture I took of the over-stuffed underside of my dock which showed the chaos that the Apple MiniDisplayPort-to-DVI adapter caused.)

For now, here's Henge Docks announcement in the following post:

Dear Henge Docks Customer,

Thank you for your Henge Docks purchase! We hope you are satisfied with your Henge Dock and we would like to take this opportunity to let you know about some new products that we think will improve your Henge Docks experience.

New Docks

Henge Docks has launched our second generation 13-inch MacBook/Pro docking stations, below are a few key features, for more information please visit www.HengeDocks.com/blog.

Universal MagSafe Compatibility - All Henge Docks models are now compatible with all three styles of MagSafe connector. We redesigned the MagSafe port on the dock and include three MagSafe Adapter Tools, or Chicklets, as we call them, with every new dock. The MagSafe Adapter Tools are not compatible with our first generation docks.

Mini-TOSLink Compatible - In a few weeks Henge Docks will be launching our line of custom Mini-TOSLink cables designed to work specifically with our second generation docks. These cables allow your computer to output digital sound over fiber optic connections to a compatible television or sound system for the highest quality sound possible. Due to a port redesign the Mini-TOSLink cables are not compatible with our first generation docks.

Upgraded Cables - Henge Docks now includes high end audio cables with each new unit we sell. The new cables will increase the overall quality of analog audio output through the dock. Due to a port redesign the new audio cables are not compatible with our first generation docks.

Henge Docks Custom Mini DisplayPort Adapters

We have developed our own line of HDMI and DVI Mini DisplayPort Adapters specifically for use in our docking stations. Both styles of adapters feature a longer cable that will free up space under the dock. The HDMI adapter is also capable of carrying audio out when connected to a MacBook with an audio out compatible Mini DisplayPort. All adapters are priced at $24.95 and can be purchased from our store.

Has the news of our second generation docks got you feeling a bit of early adopter remorse? We know that feeling all too well, so we're offering free upgrades and credits toward a new docking station to our existing customers.

I just ordered one of the 2nd gen units for my i7 15" MBP. I am using a miniDisplayport -> Displayport cable so I hope I can fit everything OK. If not, I'll return it.

I got my 2nd Gen. HengeDock yesterday. I'm using every connection except audio in. It was pure luck that my mini-DisplayPort to DisplayPort adapter fits. Otherwise it would have been a quick return.

So far so good. It seems to be working. Plugging in can be a little finicky with the power port. But once seated properly, it works fine. One complaint I have is that when the audio connects it causes some feedback racket. The set screws leave a mark on cable connectors, but so what? That doesn't bother me in the least.

The best improvement I think would be to have permanently fixed male connectors where the MBP docks, along with female connectors under the dock accepting one's own cables. They probably can't do that with the MagSafe connector (licensing issues) but they should be able to do it for the others.

They also need to provide an option for a DisplayPort adapter for the miniDisplayPort connection. I think the adapter I have isn't available any more.

I'd give it 7/10.

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience of these?

This is so sweet. I'm buying two of them.

I just received a HengeDock as a B-Day present and have been using it for a few days now and I really love this dock :)

It was purchased through Amazon and is a 1st gen model despite being brand new. Regardless - this is a great design and stand for the MB/MBP (13" Unibody in my case) and almost perfect for my HTPC install. I have had the same mini displayport adapter and cabling issues as previously mentioned in this thread but, mine were not as bad apparently. Although it is tight, I was able to route all cables underneath neatly using a 3rd party mini DP > HDMI adapter (from Amazon) and the included USB/Ethernet/Audio cables. I am now just trying to find a compatible mini toslink audio cable (can anyone recommend one that is compatible with the HengeDock?) If not, I will await the official cable from Henge and maybe even pick up their mini displayport adapter as the longer lead and "cleaner" cabling appeals to me for the HTPC setup.

To be fair their official cables are significantly more expensive than others but, have nice long leads and fit perfectly as you would expect.

Also what is HTPC

I want to buy the Henge Docks for my 15in MBP i7 HR-AG to connect to my TV.

My MBP has a Zagg Invisishield on it and will it fit or be too tight? What options do I have (either remove it [which I do not want to for daily protection] or would I be able to sand the sides of the actual dock? Or any other possible solutions that are do-able)

I have a griffin mdp to hdmi http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/video-display-converter <<thats the picture of what it looks like and it CAN carry sound through it my question is will it be able to fit inside the dock or do I need to buy Henge Dock product?

Thats about it I will be re-doing my bedroom soon so I need your help and opinions. If you want I will post pictures of the transformation :p.

BTW the link to HDs: http://preorders.hengedocks.com/

I'm so getting one of these....

£70 for postage for the unibody late 2008 15" to the uk....

gonna look top on a 42" plasma :D and digital amp :D

HTPC = Home Theater Personal Computer. Most of us these days using a HTPC are using it with Plex or XBMC (Xbox Media Center).

Also for anyone interested the 3rd party mDP adapter I used was this one on Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003TL8AO0/ref=oss_product

Fits the HengeDock just fine.

I'm returning my Henge!

Found this forum while searching for info on docks for MBP 13 other than Henge since I finally gave up this AM after hours of frustration, unable to reseat my mac. As the very thorough review above explains, the bulky mini-display adaptor cable coupled to the external display cable makes for an impossible fit, plus, I found that the oh-so-precise placement required to get the magsafe power connect to work was another drawback. Oddly, the dock worked once or twice after I first set it up. I was able to remove and reseat the MBP successfully. But the third time, when I removed the mac, both the display and power cables came loose in their slots in the dock. I only discovered this when I went to reseat the mac. I repositioned and tightened up the cables, but from then on, I simply could not get anything to work again. If I got the power to connect, the display wouldn't and vice versa. Too bad. I love the way it looks and, in theory, it would be cool to be able to connect and disconnect the mac from all the desktop peripherals in one move. Getting all those cables to line up and pop in -- even with a little jiggling here and there -- strikes me as a feat of engineering that Henge hasn't quite pulled off -- yet. The only alternative seems to be the very expensive and very, very ugly thing from Bookendz. Maybe, as someone opined in another thread, Macbooks just aren't meant to dock!

After over a months usage, and un- and re-docking on a daily basis, mine is working just fine. It connects every time and I never have to jiggle or work it around. I just wish they had made the FW800 cable longer, or as an extender like they did with for the USB cables.

I have the Hengedock v2 for my 15" MBP 6,2.

At first I was aggrovated that the MBP wouldn't fit easily into the dock. I had to fight it. The culprit was my mini-display port metal was hitting the mini-display port piece. It wasn't aligning properly.

However, after using a precision screwdriver to push the metal down a bit it would fit. But then it would go right back into the way.

However, after letting the MBP sit in the dock for a couple days, it has not "adjusted". I can remove it, take it with me on a trip for days, then come back and it will plug right into the dock.

I just think it takes awhile for the MBP and the dock to find the right mesh. Once it does, it fits great.

I'm pondering getting one of these. I will be upgrading to a 13" MBP in the next few weeks and have wanted a docking solution for a long time...

One thing that I've noticed in the years that I've had my MacBook is that when I go from using my 19" Display as the primary monitor, my applications that were full screen on the 19" display are either too large on the built in display. There has to be a way to make the system revert back to the smaller display...

Any ideas?
