The letter-boxing in the already narrow X made them appear even smaller. Sure you could zoom, but then you were cropping out content. It looks like on the Max, videos will be very similar, nearly identical, to the Plus experience. But if you zoom, as you can see, you will still lose content. Just thought I would share for anyone wondering. Looks promising.

If you keep the video on 16:9, the size will be the same on 8 and X or 8 Plus and XS Max. The X-line just has some extra vertical space. I wouldn't want to zoom in and loose so much of video, black bars are a better compromise I think.

So yeah, I'm on 7 Plus and would have to upgrade to the Max since I watch a lot of video. It's just unreasonably more expensive to me.

I saw the video that showed those screens.

The top 2 are misleading as they're cropped, which means the Max doesn't have a resolution that matches typical aspect ratios of videos on YouTube....dissapointing, ie. another reason why the Max isn't for me.

That’s why I called out that those pics represent the content you’ll lose when you zoom. But you are going to have that on a 19.5:9 aspect ratio on any phone. It’s the same on the regular X. At least with the Max, unzoomed, you get the same experience as on the 16:9 Plus display. The black bars that are there on the Max appear to be the same size as the bezel on the Plus. Unless apps like YouTube and Netflix start natively supporting aspect ratio other than 16:9, this is going to happen.

lol you know how fat the iPhone would have to be to keep that aspect ratio at that height?

really wish there was a stretched but not all the way pulled out size. Right next to the notch and almost all the way to the bottom. Why couldnt they do this? And keep the top and bottom from cutting off

Aspect Ratio........Thats why the iphone 8 plus with its 16.9 AR is perfect for videos.... That full screen on Max with the zoom in...not feeling it....Now that nasty notch......

The way it is without zooming is exactly like the plus models
