I wonder how Apple will safeguard their family-friendly profile with these GenAI apps..
Of course provocative material is bound to surface no matter what, but I suspect that the breadth of prompts supported will significantly smaller than Bing's and even Gemini's...
Same way Dalle and Ideogram does. Lots of blocking images or prohibiting images. You really have to want to make a NSFW image on those platforms and then work hard to maybe might it happen but most likely it will be blocking. Bing Creator (dalle) is so sensitive that it is borderline paralyzed.

I’m still waiting to see how it’s useful. It looks about as exciting as watching paint dry. Guess we’ll find out later.
Business owners are excited about the eventual prospects of replacing $400,000+/year worth of salaries and benefits with a $20,000 machine.

As well they should be. I don’t know of many people who start for-profit businesses as a reason to not achieve financial security.

Apple's suggestions will be personalized, so if you're chatting with friends about going on a hike, you might see it pop up options like mountains and hiker.
IOW Clippy. Only worse.

I see you're talking about a HIKE! May I insert these images I dreamed up?

(Would rather it mind its own business; I can communicate without custom on-the-fly emojis...)

I couldn’t quite put my finger on what bothered me watching the keynote but I think people have nailed it here. Creating “cute” images on the fly, more visual diarrhoea, is absolutely grating on my brain. It’s bad enough to have social media feeds flooded with this crap but now Apple thinks we all want them in our chats and documents. And making it “on device” and requiring a recent iPhone to do it is just a shameless attempt to make the next killer app that tempts you to upgrade. I now want a simpler iPhone and iOS more than ever after watching that. They also talk
About “privacy” yet they suggest ChatGPT when they can’t support the request themselves. They send your data out to a third party when it suits ( I know you have to allow but still)

They seem to have complicated things with AI. Shouldn’t it be making it all simpler?

I wonder if the same business owners have ever internalized that they may not have any customers at some point with this trajectory

I am severely disappointed that Apple is partnering with the largest plagiarism and art-theft operation in human history. Every one of these "generated" images was made by mishmashing the work of artists who never got to consent to the theft of their work.

I was planning on getting the 16 this year, but at this point ONLY if this AI stuff is optional and I can opt out of my photos/messages/entire life being used to train Chat ***** GPT.

Not sure what the alternative is, but to keep my iPhone 13 Pro another year and research other phones. I'm pretty sure Android will be just as bad in the coming year about stealing your entire life to feed their AI-training ambitions. Flip phones are looking better and better every day.

Steganography is going to be a good friend. Hide your photos inside of photos. If your photos are being used to train an AI, give them garbage.

Is this useful?, how to justify the development efforts in supporting this feature that will not work with other devices most likely?

Don’t get why this is limited the 15s, apps already work for this on older devices lol

These are too close to photorealistic to be charming. They're like uncanny valley stock photos. I don't think they'll appeal to anyone and people will tire if it quickly

If you're going to go this you need to make it look like cutesy stickers

cause it runs in the cloud, not on-device

Give an Cloud option just like they do with the ChatGPT part then. Opt-in of course, for those like me that don’t care. Privacy in that sense is an illusion anyway. Governments and other entities spy using things like Pegasus every day. At least here I get something out of the data I provide to them. If I ask XY to remove Z from an photo, I willingly choose to give them access to that particular photo so let me.

Whenever I tried AI generated images I felt like repeatedly pulling a slot machine handle (prompt) waiting for the jackpot (image that suits my needs).

Screen Time said: "Use it less."
This said: "Use it more. Turn your brain into semolina."

I’ve played around with some of ChatGPT and others but I’d rather write my own things and compose my own songs and badly draw my own art. It seems to be so fake to me. And any detailed questions I ask it about things I actually know about (obscure composers and authors) are just word salad and mostly wrong.

I saw a meme yesterday that rings true. It said something along the lines of "I need AI to fold my laundry and shop for my groceries so I have time to create my own art. Instead AI creates art for me so I have more time to fold laundry and do my own groceries." I know I sound like an old man yelling at clouds, but we don't need this kind of stuff.

Just don't use ChatGPT. Apple doesn't make you use it. When it says "Hey can I ask ChatGPT a question?" Just say no. Easy Peasy.

Pretty sure even if it does ask ChatGPT, it just sends the prompt without any other data anyway.
