Don't go swimming with your iPhone SE in the sea.

My husband did this, he left it in his shorts pocket.

    One dead phone.

    :)

Salt water is very corrosive so it is unlikely to recover no matter what.. I wouldn’t even expose a water resistant phone to sea water

Lizzie, You may need to upgrade your current husband model device, if he makes mistakes like that. Clearly, said device is very buggy. ;)

Nice. Husband screws up one time and you're suggesting that she replace him. Clearly, that "solution" is overkill by a large amount.

Lighten up. It was a friendly joke. If you thought my post with a smiley was serious, you need to step back away from the computer.

If you knew it was humor, then your chiding was unnecessary.

Go get a beer and a hug from someone and get off my case.

I wouldn’t take my 8 swimming although it’s said to be waterproof.

It’s not waterproof it is water resistant. Huge difference

@Lizziejh you will have to excuse the weak attempts at banter in this thread, you didn't say anything divisive enough for folks to froth at the mouth and attack each other over. @BasicGreatGuy tried to jumpstart things, but the spark didn't last. Perhaps if you had revised your OP to say something like:
    • "Do you think Apple will replace the phone?"
    • "I turned the phone on and off 100 times and then bagged it in rice, do you think it will be OK?"
    • "How can I replace the water sensors so I can take it back to Apple?"
    • "Since this phone is toast, what should I get? Is the iPhone 8 Plus better than the iPhone X?"
    • "Will my water-logged phone make my HomePod sound worse?"
But you will learn, young grasshopper... making threads without controversy leads to anonymity

All I did was try to make the op laugh. My goal was achieved because the op saw my post for the intent it was and laughed. I wasn’t being decisive. As such, your attempt to say i was is way off.

I have no problems with anyone here. Let’s leave it that way.

You totally misinterpreted my intent, and for that I apologize
I was attempting to lighten the mood from the previous buzzkill directed at you, but my feeble attempt at sarcasm flopped
(FWIW, I thought what you posted was funny as well)
    Carry on

Thank you for the clarification. You are right. I did misinterpret what you wrote.

    FYI

We soaked the phone in 99% alcohol

Then left it in a bowl of rice

    It’s now with our insurers

It’s cost us our excess, and a bottle of alcohol

    The rice came free
