Loophole still nice to have (if it works)

You can buy an unsubsidized (e.g. full price) unlocked VZW iPhone at any Apple Store that will work on any GSM network such as AT&T, T-Mobile, etc.

Loophole not required.

The loophole still seems to be available on the website - although I have not actually ordered anything (so maybe it would be cancelled before they actually shipped it?)

Also note that not everyone has an apple store nearby (hence the need for such loopholes). Plus (if it works) this loophole can be used for android devices too (like the Motorola Maxx) - much cheaper to buy at full price from Verizon than from other places (see my original post notes at the end). Interestingly enough though the in VZW store full price seems to be even better (-$50) but of course they will not likely sell you the device without any subscription in their stores...

Couldn't hurt to try.

Fair enough.

Enjoy your Android. I'm forced to use one at work and it friggin' drives me nuts.

Slightly off topic, but it still makes me wonder why the AT&T variant of iPhone 5s has higher resale value in local listings(at least in here Salt lake City, Utah). You can't use ATT iPhone 5s on Verizon's network, but Verizon model allows both ATT and Verizon. So isn't it clear that Verizon model should be more valuable since it can be used with one more carrier?

When using an AT&T SIM in a Verizon version of the iPhone 5S, is the phone enabled to support all the frequencies that AT&T is currently using? How about T-Mobile?

Right, my girlfriend has a Verizon version of iPhone 5c, and she just popped her tmobile SIM card inside, gets LTE.

Tried this for iPhone 6 and I think the order got cancelled. It said there was no record of the order number. When I check with the preorder confirmation it says "processing" and no ship date available.

Yeah.
I've tried 3 times with an iPhone 6 and it just keeps getting cancelled once somebody gets to processing it and sees that there's now associated wireless plan.
