This is odd...my calculator changed fonts to a smoother, helvetica-like font. The top of the characters rests at the horizontal "line" of the display window, leaving a gap at the top.

I would post pics, but I don't have flickr or anything. The weird part is, I don't do mods or anything. So how did it change? Does anyone else have the same problem?

Widgets are like little web pages. Sometimes one my my calculator buttons fails to load (some kind of timeout?) and I get a Safari style question mark on that button until it refreshes when I next click. In your case, maybe the CSS stylesheet of the calculator did not load?

Try clicking the calc, then hit Command-R -- same way you would reload a Web page.

I'd try running Yasu from versiontracker.com. Maybe a font cache problem?

I just made a plain brushed metal skin, let me know what you think, here it is:

replace calc skin

My needs are the reverse. I prefer the dashboard widget look the original orange and would like to replace the look of the Apple calc app with that. I opened up the package but could not see what needed to be replaced - is it possible?

Alternatively is there a calc app that I could just download and use that looks like the bundled widget?

Thanks.

Did you notice that this thread hasn't been touched for 1 1/2 years? You might try looking on the Apple site for the many calculator widgets that are there.
