Let me just say this. You are really do need a skin for the front and the back to cover it for abrasion or anything. says the bumper is raised from the screen, but literally its raised maybe 2mm.

Sand ranges from 0.02mm to 2mm so if it falls on a grain of sand, it will barely touch the screen.

I'm quite rough too, but I owned a otter box for the 3g and I stopped using it because it was too bulky and I ended up just running naked until I got this for a long time.

And I think the orange is gonna be rockin on the white. I'd like to get a dark blue bumper then really be PSU
