As much as I would like the camera to be in the middle after the Face ID components are hidden under the screen, since currently the camera is towards the right rather than already in the middle, and the Face ID components seem to be prioritized over the camera in terms of being in the middle, I do see the camera being in the corner areas in the future.

Really couldn’t care less. And the zero-border move is plain stupid if true, only increasing the chances of damaging the screen.
I use a case anyway so less chance of damage, but such a screen makes it hard to use with a case, as depending upon the design of the case, it may obscure the edges. For this reason I prefer having a little bit of a bezel.

Anyone miss the days when Rumours were just rumours and it was fun to see what next September's announcements would bring?
literally never.
The only iPhone that’s ever remained somewhat of a secret was the original, and that’s mostly because it was announced months and months before it released.
every single iPhone since has pretty much been spoiled long before it dropped.
The 3G was pretty much known about before the original one released, the iPhone 4 was literally left in a bar for everyone to see, the iPhone 5 had high-quality pictures of it in both of its colors all over the Internet almost 6 months before it launched.
The 6 and 6+ were literally so highly anticipated that pretty much every little detail about them was known for almost a year before they released

I don’t believe the iPhone will survive until 2030 if Apple’s five year innovation plan is just to make the hole in the screen smaller and then remove it. A major technological shift is coming, just like the transition from basic phones to smartphones. User interfaces will change. Apple is the next Nokia.

yes, but was the 10 'spoiled' before the 5 was released?
no.
We are used to 'this year's phone' being spoiled but 5 years in the future? Its getting silly.

Feels like things were already pretty great ... in 2012
It's ridiculous how much energy Apple spends very slightly moving things around every year or two.

(psst ... just have a thin top/bottom bezel to hide the camera & sensors, nix the home button and be done already)

"heres the next 5 years phones" is pushing the crystal ball even for macrumors.

If you missed this year's WWDC Keynote but read MacRumors, you didn't miss the Keynote at all. There are no surprises anymore.

I hope this isn't true. I don't want to have a camera visible in the screen, especially off to the left. I am really eager for an all-screen design though.

... I wonder how many people will inadvertantly trigger commands or open apps because of the curved glass edges and super-thin bezels. ...
I'm not sure what Apple's planning, but it seems to me that one solution to such an issue could be: don't put any software UI elements in those places -- or a possibly even more drastic response: don't even put touch sensors there. Obviously the temptation is there to put touch sensor buttons on every single surface that exists... but why bother, if it's more trouble than it's worth? I expect I'm in the minority for this kind of thinking, though.

I agree; this is one detail that causes me pause as well. As others have noted, I'd easily believe that Apple would just transition their "dynamic island" to a hole punch right there in the middle -- but would Apple really shove that hole punch off to one corner like that?

The only thing I can think of is that maybe it'll free up more screen space for videos and such... but it sure does look peculiar.

Seems silly that the 20th anniversary phone wont get the holepunch display. Top left is going to mess up the way the Dynamic Island displays its information so hopefully it will be centered.
