Intel MacOS is now downloading as well. :)

Ipad and Iphone went super smooth. Watch is preparing now.

Everything seems smoother than in years past...
Indicative of lowered interest in SUs this cycle or Apple improving distort on their end?

Just click software update as normal, all your stuff will still be safe. I updated multiple devices and they're all fine.

yikes, problem time of course, so long story while on beta my safari history and tabs got hosed SMH

but I made an ion 17 backup before so I want to use that but have to downgrade to iOS 17 first right?? how do I do that??

the articles ive found aren't really helping, I can't seem o get my phone into recovery mode (14 pro max)....I did press vol up, down (hold) then press and hold power button...nothing...side note: when I first did beta, and I connected to my Mac it would say something like can't connect to iPhone must update software first....maybe that's an issue?..

Don't restore from backup, that's likely where you're running into issues, those are only for if something really bad happened to your phone or the install somehow corrupted.

You can make a backup, but don't restore the phone from that backup. Just click update in the settings panel and all your apps/bookmarks/etc will still be there. Some apps will require you to sign in again though. The OS updates without wiping anything from your system.

right but if I do that

right but if I do that (just clicking update in settings) it'll carry over all my lost safari tabs, right? I want at least access to my iOS 17 backup and at least screen shot my tabs and go from there, just how do I downgrade to 17 to access older safari info from older backup? hope this makes sense

Correct. You won't lose those.

2. I want at least access to my iOS 17 backup and at least screen shot my tabs and go from there.
If you create a manual backup you'll have access to it. Autobackups disappear after so long.

3. How do I downgrade to 17 to access older safari info from older backup?
If you're not currently on iOS 18 (the one released today) you can opt out of the beta which will restore your phone to 17 and restore it from a backup. This can take a long while. You may want to look at YouTube for how to do this too since it may be easier seeing it on video.

Let me know when .2 or .3 is out :) I'll upgrade to that a couple weeks after release, if no emergency .2.1 or .3.1 shows up...
Waiting for .1 and the Apple Intelligence isn’t necessarily a bad idea. However, my advice would be to upgrade to 18.0 so that you have time to experiment with and get accustomed to the other changes. RCS and other changes for Messages are nice. I’ve found the changes to Control Center more useful than I thought they would be. Of course, my favorite changes have been the AI stuff in .1. I would hate to go back to cutting and pasting things between chatGPT, Private LLM, and Claude.

I’m running betas on everything Mac, iPad, TV, iPhone, and AVP. [Well, AVP is no longer beta since they released 2.0 and don’t have 2.1 betas yet.] Yes, different things haven’t worked because of bugs and differences between what each beta supports.

Don’t download beta software unless you are comfortable with the risk. No one will commiserate with you, though some will share their war stories and battle scars as if they were badges of honor.

I did the update and noticed that my number of photos count is different than before the update, but I can’t tell any difference and don’t think any photos are missing. Is it possible iOS 18 just properly indexed the number?

Still on the last RC developer beta... was hoping there might be an update to the general release. I'm still seeing bugs I thought would be resolved.. especially in safari where the navigation bar is still buggy. Maybe it's just a 13 mini thing ;(
